Let's Bake A Cake

I recently went to the grocery store on an empty stomach. Never a good move, for inevitably you come out having bought items that you question later. In the course of running the aisles with growling insides, my stomach decided that it wanted cake. Now, I hadn't attempted a cake for awhile and there is a good reason. There is no one to help me eat it. What am I to do with a whole bundt cake? My eyes settled on a mix, Orangesicle. Oh, what a concept, must try it!
Once home and gathering both the cake mix and the frosting container I found myself staring at the oven door in a reflective mood. Then with a sudden surge of energy I knew what to do, take it to work! With renewed vigor I proceeded with the baking.

Tea Drinking Weather

This spring has been the best.  As far as staying cool longer, lots of rain, and green everywhere!  It really was wonderful, rather than the quick intro of maybe a week of spring which transitions suddenly into the heat of summer, there was almost a lazy tone to the pace of spring this year.

So, like everyone else, I couldn't help but notice the change this past week into the hot summer days.  We bid you farewell soft spring breezes and welcome the sweat trickling summer.  Not that I am complaining, this means I can get my mason jar out on the porch for sun tea!   There is nothing much better than a cool glass of ice tea on a hot summer day!

Let's Stop and Smell the Flowers

Today was one of those peaceful and thoughtful days.  The kind when the sunlight streaks through the trees with a special magic that can give pause to your daily schedule and just make you sit and take it in.

My Shasta Daisies are blooming beautifully.  They seem to understand the magic in the air and have turned towards the window to capture as much of it as possible.  I think I will do the same . . .
